MELBOURNE - Dec 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough and associated southerly change over western and southern NSW will move to north tonight and Monday morning before weakening and becoming slow moving in the northeast later Monday and Tuesday. A weak high is expected to move into the Tasman Sea, east of Bass Strait Monday night then move slowly east Tuesday. The next front/trough is likely to reach western NSW Wednesday then cross most of the state during Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers about the southeast third or so of the state with possible local thunder. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to southwesterly winds inland. North to northeasterly winds near the coast, with a strong southerly change in the south extending to central parts this evening.Monday 17 DecemberIsolated showers and drizzle patches along the coast and adjacent ranges with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northeast winds on the far north coast. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending through the remainder, fresh to strong along parts of the coast.Fire Danger - very high: Northern Slopes, Northwestern.Tuesday 18 DecemberIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Fine and sunny elsewhere. East to southeast winds along the coast, south to southwest winds inland.Wednesday 19 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers possible in the far southwest. Fine remainder. Hot day in the west. Northeast to northwest winds.Thursday 20 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, possibly heavy at times about the western slopes of the northern ranges. Generally fine in the west though isolated showers over the southern inland and near the Queensland border. A hot day in the northwest and most central districts.
