Weather Situation A high pressure system centred near New Zealand is maintaining a ridge to northeastern New South Wales. A low pressure trough will move across southern and western districts today before continuing to the northeast during Monday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers in the southeast, more likely over the southern slopes and ranges with the chance of thunder. Light showers clearing early in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot in the northeast. Northwest to southwesterly winds inland. North to northeasterly winds near the coast, with a southerly change in the south extending to central parts late in the day.Fire Danger - Very High: North coast,Hunter,Sydney,Illawarra,South/Central ranges,Northwest Slopes,Upper WesternMonday 17 DecemberIsolated showers along the coast, ranges and parts of the adjacent slopes. The chance of a thunderstorm in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast of the state, southerly winds in the remainder.Tuesday 18 DecemberIsolated showers along the coast and eastern ranges, contracting northwards during the day. the chance of a thunderstorm on the northeastern ranges and coast.
