MELBOURNE - Dec 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is moving through Bass Strait. A high south of Western Australia will move eastwards, to be centred over the Bight later today and reaching the Tasman Sea by Tuesday. A trough of low pressure will move over western parts of the State late on Tuesday then extend across central and eastern parts on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts in the afternoon. Possible isolated showers developing in the far northwest. Cool in the south grading to hot in the far northeast with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 17 DecemberFine apart from possible isolated light morning showers about the Lower South East coast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the far northwest. Cool in the south grading to hot in the far north with light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 18 DecemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms west of Ceduna. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm grading to hot in the north with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, tending northerly in the far west ahead of a late southerly change about the far west coast.Wednesday 19 DecemberIsolated showers extending across most districts during the day. Possible thunderstorms over the far north and west, extending to northern Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas, the Flinders, Mid North and Riverland districts during the afternoon. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northwest winds, ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending into the Northeast Pastoral district by evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday morning until midnight Wednesday are expected to be generally 1 to 5 mm, with local falls up to 10 mm with thunderstorms in the far north of the State.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and parts of the pastoral districts on Thursday, clearing during the day. Fine on Friday and Saturday. Mild on the coasts, warm to hot inland, becoming warm to hot later in the period.
