Gladstone to Double Island Point, including Hervey Bay.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for abnormally high tides for parts of the
Wide Bay Burnett and Southeast Coast districts.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea is maintaining a ridge along the east coast of
Queensland. The high is expected to weaken and move towards New Zealand during
today. A surface trough lies well offshore in the Coral Sea and strong winds to
its south are increasing swells along Queensland's southeast coast.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state. Isolated early showers about
Fraser Island, the central and north tropical coast. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms developing about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Increasing E to SE
swells will combine with higher than normal tides, leading to some beach erosion
about the exposed beaches south of Sandy Cape. Light to moderate SE to NE
winds, fresh at times about the Wide Bay coast and over the Channel Country. A
Very High to Severe fire danger in the Channel Country. A Very High fire danger
over the remainder of the interior of the state and about the Capricornia and
Wide Bay and Burnett districts.
Forecast for Saturday
The ridge of high pressure should weaken along Queensland's east coast, but
will nonetheless keep the eastern and central districts fine and mostly sunny
except for some isolated showers about the far northeast. A surface trough
should lie across the state's southwest, and scattered showers and thunderstorms
are expected over the western districts as the air ahead of the trough becomes
more humid. Isolated thunderstorms should develop along the west coast of Cape
York Peninsula late in the day. Cloud is expected to increase over the southwest
of the state with isolated showers and thunderstorms developing. Large E to SE
swells, higher than normal tides and beach erosion are expected to continue
south of Sandy Cape. Very warm daytime temperatures over the southwest and
southern interior.
Forecast for Sunday
The surface trough should move further eastwards over the southern interior
with very warm to hot and humid conditions over much of the interior ahead of
the trough. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the northwest of the state
and southern tropics, spreading to areas of thundery rain during the day.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere in the tropics, far northern
Channel Country and the central interior. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. The E
to SE swells over the southeast coast should ease significantly.
Forecast for Monday
The surface trough should remain slow moving over the southern interior.
Scattered showers, thunderstorms and areas of thundery rain with some locally
moderate falls are expected across the tropics. More isolated showers and
thunderstorms are also expected over the central interior and central coast.
Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms are also possible about the eastern
Darling Downs and Granite Belt district. Humid and very warm to hot conditions
over the southern interior and southeast districts.
Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
A trough should remain slow moving about the southern interior and is likely
to retreat into the southwest of the state by Thursday. Moist, unstable air to
the north and east of the trough should maintain scattered shower and
thunderstorm activity over the tropics whilst more isolated activity is possible
over the central interior and the state's southeast. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms may spread into the state's southern interior later in the week as
a surface trough strengthens in the region, whilst conditions about the central
coast and the southeast coast district may become mainly fine.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Friday.
