Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is slowly moving east across the southern Tasman Sea maintaining a ridge to northwestern New South Wales and a low pressure trough will move over the far southwest of the state later today. This trough will move across the western and southeastern districts on Saturday before stalling over the northeast later on Sunday as another high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge across the west and southeast.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers developing along Victorian border with the chance of thunderstorms in the far southwest. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds in the east, and northeast to northwesterly winds in the west. A late southerly change in the southwest.Fire Danger -  Very High: Hunter, Northern Slopes, North Western, Southern Riverina, Northern Riverina.Saturday 15 DecemberIsolated showers over the south and west, more likely near the Victorian border, possibly extending to central districts during the day. The chance of thunderstorms across the south and west. Little if any rainfall reaching the ground in the northwest. Remaining fine and hot in the northeast. North to northeasterly winds, late southwesterly change in the far southwest.Sunday 16 DecemberFine and partly cloudy in the far west. The chance of showers and thunderstorms over the remainder, more likely in the southeast. southeastern parts. North to northeasterly winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change reaching central parts by the end of the day.Monday 17 DecemberIsolate showers along the coast, ranges and parts of the adjacent slopes. The chance of a thunderstorm in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast of the state, southerly winds in the remainder.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Friday.Product IDN10031
