MELBOURNE - Dec 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman sea is moving slowly eastwards. A complex low pressure trough over South Australia will persist through Thursday and Friday. A cold front is expected to develop in the far west later Friday and extend across the State on Saturday, followed by a high developing over the Bight on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms across central and eastern districts. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far west. Hot to very hot with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Moderate afternoon coastal sea breezes.Thursday 13 DecemberIsolated showers possible over most districts, except the far northeast. Possible thunderstorms after midday over the Pastoral districts between about Coober Pedy and Leigh Creek. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds, tending moderate to fresh southerly across the south and west.Friday 14 DecemberIsolated showers, increasing to scattered showers over the agricultural area and far south of the Pastoral districts. Possible thunderstorms west of about Woomera. Hot to very hot with moderate northerly winds, tending southerly in the west later. Afternoon coastal sea breezes.Saturday 15 DecemberIsolated showers, scattered over and east of the ranges, contracting east during the day. Isolated showers to follow about southern coasts. Possible thunderstorms east of about Coober Pedy to Port Lincoln, contracting to eastern districts by afternoon and clearing later. Hot to very hot initially, ahead of a milder, southerly change extending throughout during the day.Sunday 16 DecemberIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts by evening. Fine over the remainder apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the far northeast until evening, Cool in the south grading to hot in the far northeast with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be generally 1 to 5 mm, although falls of 5 to 15 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayFine apart from isolated early showers near southern coasts early Monday, re-developing on Wednesday. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, tending northeast to northwest on Wednesday ahead of a southwesterly change in the far west.
