MELBOURNE - Dec 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure just east of Tasmania will move slowly eastwards across the southern Tasman Sea during Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile a low pressure trough will develop over South Australia on Wednesday before slowly moving over western Victoria late on Thursday then lingering over western and central Victoria on Friday and into Saturday. A cold front will move from the Southern Ocean to reach western Victoria late on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from the chance of isolated showers in the far east of Gippsland. A clear night in all areas except the far east. Light winds inland but fresh easterlies on the coastal fringe.Wednesday 12 DecemberFine apart local early showers in the far east of Gippsland. A warm to hot and mostly sunny day, although some cloud developing in the afternoon across the northwest. Light to moderate north to northeasterly winds and local afternoon sea breezes along the coast.Fire Danger - Generally high.Thursday 13 DecemberIsolated showers developing over the southwest in the afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms. Remaining fine elsewhere. Very warm to hot with moderate northerly winds. Afternoon sea breezes developing on the coast.Friday 14 DecemberWarm to hot and humid with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing, mostly over western and central areas. Light to moderate northeast winds over the east and moderate southerlies in the west.Saturday 15 DecemberHumid with showers, tending to rain at first in central and eastern parts. Scattered thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
