Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system east of Tasmania extends a ridge across the Tasman Sea, which will strengthen as it moves slowly east today. A low pressure trough over western New South Wales will be pushed further west due to the movement of the high, and is expected to clear the western border by Wednesday. A second trough, currently off the northern and central coasts, is forecast to approach the coast today, bringing an increase in shower activity before it weakens late in the day. Thursday and Friday will see mostly fine conditions as the high pushes a strengthening ridge across the region, although the next trough approaching from the west may generate unsettled conditions into the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers about the central and northern coasts, possibly heavy at times with thunder. Isolated showers or thunderstorms across the central and northern inland. Fine and mostly sunny across the southern inland. East to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 12 DecemberShowers about the coast and adjacent ranges, clearing from the south. The chance of showers and thunderstorms in the far northwest. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 13 DecemberIsolated showers along the northern coast, easing. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
