MELBOURNE - Dec 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system straddles Tasmania and will move slowly eastwards across the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile a low pressure trough will develop over South Australia on Wednesday before slowly moving over western Victoria late on Thursday then deepening over western and central Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine and generally clear. Southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast but lighter inland.Tuesday 11 DecemberFine apart from the chance of late showers in the far east of Gippsland. A mostly sunny day. Warm to very warm inland with moderate easterly winds, milder near the coast with fresh afternoon sea breezes.Fire Danger - Generally high, reaching Very High in the northwest.Wednesday 12 DecemberFine apart from the chance of showers in the far east of Gippsland. A mostly sunny day, warm in the south grading to hot in the northwest. Light to moderate north to northeasterly winds and milder sea breezes along the coast.Thursday 13 DecemberIsolated showers developing over the southwest in the afternoon, otherwise fine but becoming humid. Very warm to hot with moderate northerly winds. Afternoon sea breezes developing on the coast.Friday 14 DecemberWarm to hot and humid with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing, mostly over western and central areas.
