MELBOURNE - Dec 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is drifting slowly eastwards. A cold front will cross the Bight to reach western Victoria Saturday afternoon and will clear the far northeast of Victoria early Sunday morning. A new high pressure system will move from Bight waters to cross Tasmania on Monday night, moving into the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible about the eastern ranges but mainly fine. Light winds and weakening coastal seabreezes.Saturday 8 DecemberVery warm to hot and mostly sunny with freshening northerly winds ahead of a cooler, gusty southwesterly change developing in the southwest in the early afternoon then extending to central districts and the northwest late afternoon and into the east at night. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing with the change and areas of raised dust over the northwest.Fire Danger - Severe in the northwest.Sunday 9 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, clearing in the morning. Mild and becoming mostly sunny on the northern plains but cooler and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 10 DecemberFine apart from local morning drizzle in East Gippsland. Mild to warm and mostly sunny in the north and west but cooler in the southeast. Light to moderate southeasterly wind and fresh afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 11 DecemberFine apart from local morning fog Gippsland. Mainly sunny.
