Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman sea is moving slowly eastwards. A front will move into the far west of the State late Friday evening, then extend eastwards over the State on Saturday. A new high is expected to develop south of the Bight on Sunday, then move eastwards to be centred near Tasmania late Monday. A trough of low pressure will develop over the far west on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of cloud over central and eastern parts of the State, contracting further east this evening. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms west of Cleve to Coober Pedy. Hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a moderate southwesterly change in the west.Saturday 8 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms, extending eastwards during the morning and clearing from the west and south to be confined to north of Woomera to Renmark by late evening. Isolated evening showers about the Lower South East. Hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly change in the west extending eastwards during the day. Possible raised dust inland with the change.Sunday 9 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts. Areas of cloud with possible thundery showers in the north contracting to the far northwest during the morning. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Monday 10 DecemberFine apart from possible isolated showers in the far northwest. Mainly moderate southeasterly winds. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north.Tuesday 11 DecemberFine apart from possible isolated showers in the far west. Cool to mild about the coasts, warm to hot inland. Moderate southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday until midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 2 mm, with possible falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms in the far northwest.Wednesday until FridayIsolated showers west of about Ceduna on Wednesday, extending east to reach most parts of the State on Thursday then slowly contracting north and east on Friday. Generally hot throughout with southeasterly winds turning northeasterly on Wednesday ahead of a southerly change in the west on Thursday extending across the remainder of the State during Friday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033
