MELBOURNE - Dec 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high south of Port Lincoln will move eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea on Friday. A front will move into the far west of the State late Friday evening, then extend eastwards over the State on Saturday, followed by a new high developing south of the Bight on Sunday in the wake of the front. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated light showers about the Lower South East clearing by evening. Fine over the remainder. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, turning east to northeasterly in the west.Thursday 6 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the far west, gradually extending eastwards to areas west of about Ernabella to Fowlers Bay during the day. Mild to warm over the agricultural area grading to hot in the north and west.Friday 7 DecemberThe chance of isolated showers over the agricultural area, Northwest Pastoral and West Coast district during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms persisting over areas west of Elliston to Ernabella. Generally warm to hot with moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting fresh southwesterly in the far west late evening,Saturday 8 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms, gradually contracting eastwards during the day, to be confined to the far northeast of the State late evening. Hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh southwesterly change in the west extending eastwards during the day. Isolated showers persisting about far southern coasts.Sunday 9 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be up to 2 mm, with possible falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayPossible isolated showers in the far northwest, gradually extending southeastwards to areas west of Ceduna to Coober Pedy by late Wednesday. Mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds.
