Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will clear East Gippsland early this morning, reinforcing a vigorous southwesterly flow over southern Victoria. The next high pressure system just south of the Bight and move eastwards across Victoria and Bass Strait during Thursday to reach the Tasman Sea by Friday. A cold front will move eastwards across Victoria during Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers on and south of the ranges, tending to rain at times over Gippsland during the morning. Isolated showers extending over the northern plains during the morning, but remaining dry in the far northwest. Showers becoming more isolated from the west this afternoon and contracting to the coast in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the coast and showers falling as snow above 1300 metres at first. Cool and mostly cloudy with with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds, reaching gale force at times in the south during the morning, easing from the west during the afternoon and evening.Fire Danger -  Moderate to High.Thursday 6 DecemberIsolated morning showers about the central and Gippsland coasts, otherwise fine. Warm inland with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon and high cloud increasing from the west. Cooler and partly cloudy near the coast with moderate afternoon seabreezes.Friday 7 DecemberPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible in the west. Warm to hot with light to moderate northerly winds and afternoon seabreezes by the Gippsland coast.Saturday 8 DecemberHot and dry with fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler, gusty southwesterly change developing in the southwest around midday and extending northeastwards during the afternoon and evening. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing near and following the change, mainly in the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
