Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge over central NSW and a dry, milder south to southwest airstream dominates over most of the state. A cold front will cross southeast NSW this morning before the high moves east across the state Wednesday night and Thursday. The high will be centred over the Tasman Sea Friday and Saturday. Winds will tend northerly ahead of the next trough, expected to cross the southwest of the state later Saturday, then reaching the northeast Sunday night.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over southern inland and far south coast, more widespread about the western slopes of the far southern ranges during the morning. Snow flurries about higher parts of the Alps during the morning. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, strong at times in the southeast.Fire Danger -  Very high: North Coast, Hunter, Northern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Sydney.Thursday 6 DecemberThe chance of showers in the far northeast and on the far south coast early. Partly cloudy along the coast. Mostly sunny inland. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, southwest to southeast winds inland.Friday 7 DecemberThe chance of showers in the far northeast. Partly cloudy along the coast. Mostly sunny inland. Very warm to hot day in the northwest. Northeast winds, tending light and variable inland.Saturday 8 DecemberPossible isolated showers in the far northeast and about the southwest later. Hot day in the west. Northwest to northeast winds freshening before a southwesterly change in the southwest later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
