state except the far eastern tropics and the far northern districts.

Weather Situation
A weak trough stretches from the Gulf Country down to the state's southeast,
and northerly winds ahead of the trough are producing hot conditions over the
far northern and most eastern districts.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Fine and mostly sunny over most of the state except for just the chance of
some isolated showers and gusty thunderstorms about the northern tropics, the
southeast tropics and the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Moderate to fresh S to
SW winds over the interior districts, and moderate to fresh and hot NW to NE
winds over most eastern districts. An extreme fire danger for the southeast
interior, and a severe fire danger over most of the remainder of the state
except the far northern districts and the eastern tropics.
Forecast for Wednesday
Fine dry and sunny over most of the state except for the chance of some
isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Gulf Country, the Peninsula district
and the northeast districts. Average to below average temperatures and mainly
moderate SE to SW winds over most of the state's interior, and moderate to fresh
and hot NW to NE winds over the far northern and most eastern districts. A
severe fire danger over most of the state except for the northeast and central
coast districts.
Forecast for Thursday
A weak high pressure system over southeastern Australia should extend a weak
ridge along Queensland's east coast, pushing some moisture and showers over
southeast Queensland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also expected over
the northern tropics east of a weak surface trough over the north tropical
interior. Dry air will continue to bring enhanced fire dangers to the western
interior.
Forecast for Friday
The high should drift eastwards across the Tasman Sea with the associated
onshore flow expected to produce isolated showers over the eastern districts.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected east of the surface trough over
the northern tropical interior. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the
state.
Forecast for Saturday
The high should remain over the Tasman Sea and maintain an onshore flow and
showers over some of Queensland's eastern districts, though the central coast
and southern tropical coast is likely to remain fine. The surface trough should
drift westwards into the state's far western districts, with at least isolated
showers and thunderstorms expected near and east of it over the western
districts, the Cape York Peninsula and the north tropical interior.
Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
The ridge should persist along the east coast with isolated showers possible
for eastern districts in the onshore wind flow. The surface trough should remain
stretched between the northwest and the southeast interior, with some isolated
showers and thunderstorms possible near the trough over the western and southern
interior districts.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Wednesday.
