MELBOURNE - Dec 3/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front has moved across southern Victoria overnight, however a second cold front will reach southwestern Victoria this evening and move across remaining southern areas by early Wednesday morning. The next high pressure system will develop over the Bight and move eastwards across Victoria during Thursday to reach the Tasman Sea by Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers near and south of the ranges, tending more widespread about the west and south Gippsland coast tonight. Isolated showers extending across the ranges but remaining fine in the far northwest. The chance of a thunderstorm and local hail about coastal areas and showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. Cool with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - High to very high.Wednesday 5 DecemberScattered showers on and south of the ranges, widespread at first about the west and south Gippsland coasts but showers becoming isolated and contracting to coastal areas by the evening. Snow falls above 1300 metres, clearing later in the day. Partly cloudy over the northwest. Cool to mild with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds easing later in the day.Thursday 6 DecemberIsolated morning showers about the central and Gippsland coasts, otherwise fine. Warm inland with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon and high cloud increasing from the west. Cooler near the coast with moderate afternoon seabreezes.Friday 7 DecemberPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible in the west.
