MELBOURNE - Dec 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure over the Bight will extend across Victoria on Sunday. A cold front will cross southern Victoria later Monday and early Tuesday. A high pressure system will move to the south of the Bight during Tuesday then continue eastward to be near Victoria's western border by late Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the southwest, extending to southern districts during the morning then mostly clearing during the evening. Mainly sunny over the north. Cool to mild in the south, a little warmer north of the divide with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate, locally high in the northeast.Monday 3 DecemberIsolated showers developing over southern and mountain districts, increasing about the southwest coast late in the day. Partly cloudy over the north. Cool to mild in the south and a little warmer north of the divide with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Tuesday 4 DecemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges with snow developing above 1300 metres. Showers increasing about West Gippsland and the southwestern coast with possible small hail in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the central coast. Partly cloudy over the northwest. Cool with fresh southwesterly winds, strong near the coast.Wednesday 5 DecemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges becoming more isolated in the evening. Snow falls above 1400 metres, clearing by late in the day. Partly cloudy over the northwest.
