Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high [1020 hPa] in the Tasman Sea extends a weak ridge along Queensland east coast. A trough situated across southeast Queensland is slow moving and is expected to weaken tonight. Another trough is otherwise situated across central Australia and is also moving slowly. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Scattered showers and thunderstorms across western and parts of southeast Queensland. Isolated showers along the east coast north of about St Lawrence. Fine and mostly clear over the remainder of the state. Mostly light to moderate SE to NE winds along the east coast, fresh at times. Light to moderate NE to NW winds elsewhere. Forecast for Thursday Isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms will occur across parts of southeast Queensland, possibly tending scattered about the ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected about western districts and about the Gulf of Carpentaria and adjacent inland areas. Isolated showers will occur along the east coast north of Mackay. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state. Hot to very hot temperatures across western and southern Queensland. Mostly light to moderate SE to NE winds along the east coast, fresh at times. Light to moderate NE to NW winds elsewhere, fresh at times during the morning. A very high fire danger in the Channel Country, Central West, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders districts. Forecast for Friday A high in the Tasman Sea will continue to extend a weak ridge along the Queensland east coast. The trough situated across central Australia will otherwise remain slow moving. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will occur about the Gulf of Carpentaria and adjacent inland areas. Isolated showers will occur along the tropical east coast and about adjacent inland areas, becoming scattered between Cooktown and Cardwell. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state. Hot to very hot temperatures across western and southern Queensland. Forecast for Saturday The high in the Tasman Sea is expected to move slowly northeastwards towards the north island of New Zealand while maintaining a weak ridge along the Queensland east coast. The trough situated across central Australia will slowly move eastwards and enter southwest Queensland during the day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will occur across western districts and about the Gulf of Carpentaria and adjacent inland areas. Isolated showers will be possible along the east coast, though mainly north of about Cardwell. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot temperatures across western and southern Queensland. Forecast for Sunday The high will become slow moving near the north island of New Zealand and should continue to extend a weak ridge along the Queensland east coast. The trough will otherwise continue to slowly move eastwards across western Queensland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will occur across western districts, the southeast interior and about the Gulf of Carpentaria and adjacent inland areas. Isolated showers will be possible along most of the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot temperatures across western and southern Queensland. Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday The high is expected to gradually move eastwards while weakening the ridge along the Queensland east coast into early next week. The trough situated across western Queensland will slowly move across southeast and central parts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will spread from western districts and about the Gulf of Carpentaria into central and southeast districts during Monday and Tuesday. Isolated showers will otherwise be possible along much of the east coast. Hot temperatures across western, southern and central Queensland. A milder change should move through southwest Queensland during Monday and Tuesday, extending into southern and southeast parts of the state on Wednesday.
