MELBOURNE - Nov 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure is expected to reach the far western border early Thursday, extending to a line Adelaide to Coober Pedy mid afternoon and Renmark to Marla late evening. The trough will move slightly southwards on Friday and then move northeastwards on Saturday to be out of the far northeast corner by late Saturday evening as a ridge of high pressure extends into the Bight. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms northeast of about Oodnadatta to Broken Hill, along the northern border and also west of about Ernabella to Fowlers Bay. Hot to very hot with light to moderate and variable winds, tending moderate to fresh northerly in the west.Thursday 29 NovemberFine over the far northeast. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms gradually extending over the remainder from the west, with thunderstorms becoming scattered in the north from late afternoon. Hot to very hot with moderate northeast winds turning fresh to strong north to northwest during the day, ahead of a milder moderate to fresh west to southwest change reaching a line Adelaide to Coober Pedy mid afternoon and Renmark to Marla late evening. Areas of raised dust over central parts.Friday 30 NovemberFine over the far northeast and west of about Ernabella to Kingscote. Isolated showers and thunderstorm elsewhere, tending scattered in the north and east. Warm about southern and western coasts, grading to very hot in the northeast. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds, tending southerly in the west and south.Saturday 1 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms northeast of about Ernabella to Mount Gambier, tending scattered in the northeast. Remaining fine in the far northeast corner. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts. Mild in the south, grading to very hot in the far northeast. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight Saturday are expected to be between 5 and 15 mm generally across the State, increasing to local falls of 20 to 40 mm with thunderstorms.Sunday 2 DecemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of about Broken to Hill to Oodnadatta. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts. Mild in the south, warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm east of a line Ernabella to Cape Jervis with local falls of 10-20 mm with thunderstorms. Up to 5 mm over the remainder.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, clearing later in the period.
