MELBOURNE - Nov 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure centre just east of Tasmania will move slowly east across the Tasman Sea over the next few days. A trough over inland Australia extends towards northeast Victoria and will weaken later today. The next trough will enter western Victoria later on Thursday, weakening as it moves across eastern districts on Friday morning. A cold front will move across Victoria on Saturday, then the next high will extend a ridge across northern Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast clearing tonight. Dry elsewhere but rather humid. Light to moderate northeast to southeast winds.Thursday 29 NovemberLocal early morning fog patches in the south. A humid day and mostly sunny day. Hot to very hot inland with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds. Milder seabreezes mostly confined to the Gippsland coast. A late southwesterly change in the far west. Isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon about the eastern ranges and developing over the far west during the evening.Fire Danger - Severe in the west. High to very high elsewhere.Friday 30 NovemberPatchy rain and isolated thunderstorms spreading eastwards. Hot over the northeast, but generally milder elsewhere with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds spreading eastwards. Winds tending northwesterly again across western Victoria during the afternoon.Saturday 1 DecemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms across most districts, clearing from the west. Isolated coastal showers to follow. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds turning southwesterly.Sunday 2 DecemberIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts. Dry over the north.
