MELBOURNE - Nov 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure centre just west of Tasmania extends a ridge to the Tasman Sea. The main high centre will move over the Tasman Sea on Thursday and become slow moving. Meanwhile, a trough over inland Australia extends towards northeast Victoria and will drift eastwards on Wednesday. The next trough will cross the Bight on Thursday as an associated intense low pressure system tracks across the Southern Ocean. The trough will enter western Victoria later on Thursday, weakening as it moves across eastern districts on Friday, as the intense low in the Southern Ocean moves southeastwards. A low pressure trough will move across most of Victoria on Saturday morning as the next high pressure ridge extends into the Bight. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the east. Light to moderate southeasterly winds, easing.Wednesday 28 NovemberIsolated showers over the south and east, with the risk of an afternoon storm about the far eastern ranges but dry elsewhere. Mild near the coast, warmer inland and hot north of the divide. Light winds inland, but moderate to fresh east to southeast winds developing along the coast.Fire Danger - High in the north and west.Thursday 29 NovemberHot to very hot inland with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds. A little milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes and a late southwesterly change in the west. Rain areas developing later in the southwest, otherwise dry and mostly sunny.Friday 30 NovemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms spreading eastwards. Milder with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds spreading eastwards.Saturday 1 DecemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms across most districts, but gradually clearing from the west.
