coast of Queensland. A weak surface trough lies over the Channel Country. Hot to

Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the far west, southern interior and
Granite Belt, tending more scattered over the far northwest. Isolated showers
along most of the east coast, tending scattered about the Central Coast and
Whitsundays. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state. Very hot in
the west. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times about the western
interior. Very high fire danger over most inland districts, tending severe over
the southern Channel Country and western Warrego.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high in the Tasman Sea will maintain the ridge along the east coast,
while the inland trough will remain near the Queensland/Northern Territory
border. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the far southwest and southern
interior but with little rainfall expected. Scattered showers and thunderstorms
are also expected to develop about the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district,
spreading to western and southern parts of the Southeast Coast district and
southern Burnett. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere except for some isolated
showers about the east coast north of Mackay. Remaining very hot in the
southwest and southern interior with hot conditions developing in the southeast
of the state.
Forecast for Thursday
The high in the Tasman Sea will remain slow moving along with the ridge about
the east coast of Queensland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the
western districts and about the Granite Belt and Southern Border ranges. Fine
and mostly sunny elsewhere except for some isolated showers about the east
coast. Hot to very hot conditions over the southwest, southern and southeast
interior.
Forecast for Friday
A weakening ridge will remain along the east coast of Queensland, while a
surface trough will develop about the far southwest of the state. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms over the far southwest and near the Gulf of
Carpentaria coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, with very hot conditions
over the southern half of the state.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
A ridge should remain along the east coast, and an associated onshore wind
flow should produce isolated showers onto most of the east coast. A westward
moving trough over the northwest Coral Sea combined with an upper level trough
or low may lead to increasing shower activity about the tropical east coast.
Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state except for isolated
showers and thunderstorms about the western districts and about the Gulf of
Carpentaria coast. Remaining very hot in the west of the state and through the
southern and southeast interior.
