Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high [1025hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a weak ridge along the east
coast of Queensland. A weak surface trough lies over the Channel Country. Hot to
very hot conditions about the west of the state and southern interior.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms in a band from the northwest of the state
through the central interior and into the southern interior. Isolated showers
and thunderstorms also about the southern Darling Downs and Granite Belt. Fine
and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state except for some isolated
morning showers about the tropical east coast. Very hot in the west and hot over
the southern interior. A Very High fire danger over the Channel Country and
Northwest districts. Light to moderate SE to NE winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
A surface trough should remain just to the west of the Channel Country whilst
a high in the Tasman Sea will maintaining a ridge along the east coast. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms expected over the western districts and southern
interior but with little rainfall expected. Isolated showers and thunderstorms
may just drift northwards from New South Wales to possibly also reach the
Granite Belt during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny over the
remainder of the state except for some isolated showers about the east coast.
Remaining very hot in the west and hot in the southern interior and southern
Darling Downs with increasing fire dangers. Light to moderate SE to NE winds,
fresh at time about the western interior.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high in the Tasman Sea will maintain the ridge along the east coast.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are again expected over the western districts
and southern interior but with little rainfall expected.  Showers and
thunderstorms are about the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district which are
likely to spread to western and southern parts of the Southeast Coast district
and southern Burnett.  Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere except for some isolated
showers about the east coast.  Remaining very hot in the southwest and southern
interior with hot conditions developing in the southeast of the state.
Forecast for Thursday
The high in the Tasman Sea will remain slow moving along with the ridge about
the east coast of Queensland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the
western districts and about the Granite Belt and Southern Border ranges. Fine
and mostly sunny elsewhere except for some isolated showers about the east
coast.  Hot to very hot  conditions over the southwest, southern and southeast
interior.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
A ridge should remain along the east coast, and an associated onshore wind
flow should push only isolated shower onto the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny
over the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers and
thunderstorms about the western districts and about the Gulf of Carpentaria
coast. Remaining very hot in the west of the state and through the southern and
southeast interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
