Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends from south of the Bight, across Tasmania to the Tasman Sea and will persist until at least Wednesday. The main high centre will then move over the Tasman Sea on Thursday. Meanwhile, a trough over inland Australia will extend towards northwest Victoria today and then will drift eastwards on Tuesday and Wednesday. The next trough will cross the Bight on Thursday as an associated intense low pressure system tracks across the Southern Ocean.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers extending from the west, scattered over the far west with the chance of thunderstorms. Isolated thunderstorms also possible about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Warm to hot in the north. Milder in the south. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Generally high in the north.Tuesday 27 NovemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorm mainly in the east and along the ranges. Warm to hot in the north, mild to warm in the south. Light to moderate southeast to east winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Wednesday 28 NovemberIsolated showers over the south and east, with the risk of an afternoon storm about the far eastern ranges but dry elsewhere. Mild near the coast, warmer inland and hot north of the divide. Light winds inland, but moderate to fresh east to southeast winds developing along the coast.Thursday 29 NovemberHot to very hot inland with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds. A little milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes. Dry and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of a late shower over the far southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
