Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high [1025hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a weak ridge along the east
coast of Queensland. A weak surface trough lies over the Channel Country.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Isolated showers about the tropical east coast but fine and partly cloudy
elsewhere about the east coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in a band
from the northwest through the central interior and into the southern interior.
Light to moderate SE to NE winds.
Forecast for Monday
A new surface trough should enter the far southwest of the state late in the
day, and isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to its east in a band
from the state's northwest through the central interior and into the southern
interior. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state except for some
isolated morning showers about the tropical east coast. Very hot in the west and
very warm to hot over the southeast interior. A very high fire danger over the
Channel Country and Northwest districts. Light to moderate SE to NE winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
A surface trough should remain over the Channel Country, and isolated showers
and thunderstorms are expected over the western districts, and possibly also
over the Granite Belt during the afternoon and evening. Fine over the remainder
of the state except for some isolated showers about the east coast. Remaining
very hot in the west and hot in the southern interior and southern Darling
Downs.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough should remain over the Channel Country and isolated showers
and thunderstorms are again expected over the western districts.  Isolated
showers and thunderstorms are also possible about the Granite Belt and Southern
Border Ranges.  Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere except for some isolated showers
about the east coast.  Remaining very hot in the southwest and very warm to hot
over the remainder of the southern interior.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the western districts and about the
Granite Belt and Southern Border ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere except
for some isolated showers about the east coast.  Hot to very hot over the
southern interior.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
A ridge should remain along the east coast, and an associated onshore wind
flow should push only isolated shower onto the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny
over the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers and
thunderstorms about the western districts about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast.
Remaining very hot in the west of the state and through the southern and
southeast interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Monday.
