Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high [1023hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east coast of
Queensland. A weak surface trough stretches from the northwest of the state to
the southern interior.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Areas of morning thundery rain about northeastern parts of the Central
Highlands and Coalfields district and the Capricornia and Central Coast
districts. Isolated showers about the tropical east coast but fine and partly
cloudy elsewhere about the east coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in a
band from the northwest through the central interior and into the southern
interior, becoming scattered over the central and southern interior in the
afternoon.  Hot and dry in the far southwest.  Light to moderate SE to NE winds,
fresh at times about the central interior. A Very High fire danger over the Gulf
Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central West and
Channel Country districts.
Forecast for Monday
A new surface trough should enter the far southwest of the state late in the
day. Instability should generally decrease over the state with the spatial
extent of thunderstorms decreasing. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are
expected about the state's northwest and there is also the chance of some
isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms far southern and southeast
interior. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the interior. Some
isolated morning showers about the east coast, mainly about the tropics. Very
hot in the west and becoming increasingly hot across the southern interior.
Forecast for Tuesday
A surface trough should remain over the Channel Country, and isolated showers
and thunderstorms are expected in a band from the northwest of the state in to
the Channel Country. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may affect the Granite
Belt during the afternoon and evening. Fine over the remainder of the state
except for some isolated showers about the east coast. Remaining very hot in the
west and hot in the southern interior and southern Darling Downs.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough should remain over the interior and isolated showers and
thunderstorms are expected in a band from the northwest of the state into the
Channel Country. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible about the
Granite Belt and Border Ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere except for some
isolated showers about the east coast.  Remaining very hot in the southwest and
hot in the southern and southeast interior.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
A ridge should remain along the east coast, and an associated onshore wind
flow should push only isolated shower onto the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny
over the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers and
thunderstorms about the western districts about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast.
Remaining very hot in the west of the state and through the southern and
southeast interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Sunday.
