Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east coast of
Australia. A weak surface trough stretches from the northwest to the southern
interior.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms in a belt from the northwest through the
central interior and to the southeast interior. Fine and dry in the southwest of
the state. Fine also about the east coast. Light to moderate SE to NE winds,
tending NW'ly about the southeast interior.
Forecast for Sunday
Areas of morning thundery rain about the Central and Capricornia coast
regions. Isolated showers and storms in a band from the northwest through the
central interior and into the southern interior.  Hot and dry in the far
southwest.  Fine in the far east except for some isolated early morning showers.
Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times about the central interior. A
high to very high fire danger over the Gulf Country and the interior districts.
Forecast for Monday
A new surface trough should enter the far southwest of the state late in the
day while an upper level ridge develops over western Queensland reducing
instability over the state.  Accordingly thunderstorms should contract into the
state's northwest, and there is also the chance of some isolated afternoon and
evening thunderstorms about the Granite Belt. Fine and hot over most of the
interior. Some isolated morning showers about the east coast. Hot in the west.
Forecast for Tuesday
A surface trough should remain over the Channel Country, and isolated showers
and thunderstorms are expected in a band from the northwest to the southern
interior.  Fine over the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers
about the east coast. Remaining hot in the west.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough should remain over the interior, and isolated showers and
thunderstorms are expected in a band from the northwest through the central
interior and into the state's southeast.  Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere except
for some isolated showers about the tropical east coast.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
A ridge should remain along the east coast, and an associated onshore wind
flow should push some showers over the eastern districts. Fine and mostly sunny
over the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers and
thunderstorms about the western districts.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Sunday.
