MELBOURNE - Nov 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough crossing Victoria will extend eastwards overnight, but will weaken before reaching the northeast of the State. A ridge of high pressure forming south of the Bight will extend across Tasmania Sunday and will persist until Wednesday. Meanwhile, a trough over inland Australia will extend towards northwest Victoria on Monday and Tuesday, then will drift eastwards on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA fresh, southwest to southerly change crossing the State will weaken before reaching northeast Victoria. Isolated showers possible over parts of western and central Victoria but dry elsewhere.Sunday 25 NovemberFine apart from a little morning drizzle about about the west coast and the chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm about the far eastern ranges. Hot in the north, milder in the south. Light to moderate southerly winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally High to Very High in the north.Monday 26 NovemberIsolated showers extending from the west, scattered over the far west with the chance of thunderstorms late in the day. Isolated thunderstorms also possible about the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Warm to hot in the north. Milder near the coast. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Tuesday 27 NovemberScattered showers in the east. Isolated showers over most other districts. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms over the north and east. Warm to hot in the north, mild to warm in the south. Light to moderate southeast to east winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Wednesday 28 NovemberIsolated showers over the south and east, but dry elsewhere. Mild near the coast, warmer inland and hot north of the divide.
