MELBOURNE - Nov 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea over the weekend. A cold front will enter the southwest of the State Saturday afternoon and move through central areas during the evening. The front will weaken over the northeast and remain over southern NSW on Sunday as a high pressure ridge extends across Tasmania. On Monday the ridge will strengthen and cradle the trough which is likely to extend into northern Victoria on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayClear. Moderate southeast winds, fresh about the coast at first this evening.Saturday 24 NovemberWarm to hot with moderate northwesterly winds, freshening ahead of a cooler and gusty south to southwest change, entering the southwest early afternoon and central areas by the evening. Cloud increasing from the west with the chance of a late afternoon or evening shower in the southwest. Remaining dry elsewhere.Fire Danger - High to very high.Sunday 25 NovemberRemaining dry apart from the chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorms in the east. Hot in the north, mild to warm in the south. Moderate south to southeast winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Monday 26 NovemberIsolated showers extending from the west, scattered over southern and mountain districts. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Warm inland, milder near the coast. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 27 NovemberScattered showers in the east and the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm in the northeast. Isolated showers elsewhere in the south, contracting to the coast during the day. Fine in the northwest. Warm in the north, mild to warm in the south.
