MELBOURNE - Nov 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will strengthen to the east of Victoria today then will move slowly across the Tasman Sea over the weekend. A weak low pressure trough will move across most of Victoria during Saturday as a weakening cold front clips southern Tasmania. The trough will remain over southern NSW on Sunday as a high pressure ridge extends across Tasmania. On Monday the ridge will strengthen and cradle the trough which is likely to extend into northern Victoria. Forecast for the rest of FridayEarly fog patches over East Gippsland. Warm in the north with light east to northeasterly winds. Milder in the south with cloud clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon and cooler seabreezes developing near the coast.Fire Danger - Locally highSaturday 24 NovemberWarm to hot with moderate northwesterly winds. High cloud increasing from the west as a cooler southwesterly change extends through western and central districts during the afternoon, reaching eastern districts at night.Sunday 25 NovemberIsolated afternoon showers in the east. Hot inland with light winds. Milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Monday 26 NovemberIsolated showers extending from the west, mainly over southern and mountain districts. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Warm inland, milder near the coast.
