MELBOURNE - Nov 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is moving slowly eastwards across southern Victoria and will lie to the east of Victoria on Friday and Saturday, moving to near the north island of New Zealand on Sunday. A weak low pressure trough will move across most of Victoria during Saturday as a weakening cold front clips southern Tasmania. A high pressure ridge will extend across Bass Strait on Sunday as another front approaches Tasmania. South to southeasterly winds will extend across Victoria on Monday as a high pressure system moves across Tasmania late in the day. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at first along the coastal fringe.Friday 23 NovemberFine after early fog in the south. Mild to warm and sunny inland with light winds but cooler and partly cloudy near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger - Locally highSaturday 24 NovemberFine. Warm to hot with moderate northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending from the west.Sunday 25 NovemberIsolated afternoon showers in the east. Hot inland with light winds. Milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Monday 26 NovemberIsolated showers extending across mainly southern and mountain districts. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast.
