Warning Summary at issue time
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure lies off Queensland's east coast. A surface
trough stretches from the state's northwest to the southeast interior, and is
expected to drift into the far northern and eastern districts during the day.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms over most of eastern and far
northern Queensland. Dry with very high fire danger over the state's southwest.
Light to moderate S to SW winds over most of the state, with moderate to fresh
NE to NW winds over the far northern and eastern districts.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms over most eastern districts
north of Fraser Island. Isolated showers along the far southern coast. Dry and
sunny over most of the interior. Light to moderate NE to NW winds over the
tropics, tending moderate S to SE in the south. A very high fire danger over
central and southwestern districts, and the Darling Downs and Southeast Coast
districts.
Forecast for Tuesday
A weak trough should continue to extend from the Gulf Country to the Wide Bay
region, and mainly isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected east of the
trough over the eastern tropics. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of
the state except for isolated light showers about the southeast coast.
Forecast for Wednesday
The surface trough is expected to drift a little westwards and extend from
the Gulf Country to the Central Highlands, resulting in mainly isolated showers
and thunderstorms over the southeast tropics, the northern interior, and parts
of the Peninsula district. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the
state.
Forecast for Thursday
An upper level trough will move through southeastern Queensland during the
day. The inland surface trough will initially remain in place, then combine with
a new trough approaching from the west, and move eastwards during the day. A
southerly change associated with this trough will reach the far southern coast
during the day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are likely to the north and
east of the inland trough, and may return to the southeast coast as well. It
should remain fine and sunny over the southwest.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
A weak high is expected to remain near southeast Australia during the outlook
period, whilst an upper level trough is also expected to stall near Queensland's
southeast coast, resulting in mainly isolated showers and thunderstorms over the
eastern districts. The high should push very warm to hot northerly winds over
western Queensland.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Monday.
