Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front has moved across southern Victoria and will develop into an intense low pressure system just east of Bass Strait by tonight. The low will move away up the New South Wales south coast during Monday, as a high pressure system moves slowly eastwards across Tasmania to reach the Tasman Sea by later Monday, moving slowly towards New Zealand on Tuesday. The next cold front will reach western Victoria Tuesday night, before moving across the State on Wednesday. A high pressure system will form in the Bight later on Wednesday, moving slowly across Victoria on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers over Gippsland and the Alpine area and tending to areas of rain over East Gippsland tonight. Showers falling as snow on the east ranges above 1500 metres. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the Gippsland districts, contracting eastwards this evening. Clear in the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, strengthening about the Gippsland coast tonight.Monday 19 NovemberMorning fog patches in the east. Rain over East Gippsland, easing to showers during the morning. Scattered showers contracting east and clearing from Gippsland by the end of the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mild to warm inland with light winds tending southeasterly. Cooler near the coast with east to southeast winds, strong at first about the East Gippsland coast.Fire Danger -  Generally low to moderate.Tuesday 20 NovemberA warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate northerly winds freshening in the west during the afternoon. Milder near the Gippsland coast with afternoon seabreezes developing.Wednesday 21 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms extending eastwards, affecting mainly southern and mountain districts. Warm in the east. Moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler, west to southwesterly change extending through western areas in the morning, reaching the east in the afternoon.Thursday 22 NovemberIsolated showers, mainly near the coast and clearing in the afternoon. Mild and partly cloudy in the south, warm and sunny in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
