Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is located south of the Bight and extends a ridge across southern Victoria. A cold front will approach southwestern Victoria later today before crossing Bass Strait early Sunday. A low pressure system is likely to develop tomorrow morning just east of Bass Strait, then move slowly before moving up the New South Wales south coast on Monday. The high will pass to the south of Victoria Sunday night, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday, moving eastwards on Tuesday and approaching New Zealand on Wednesday. The next cold front will reach western Victoria Tuesday night, moving across the State on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from isolated showers developing about the western coast at night. Light southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 18 NovemberIsolated showers developing in the south, more widespread near the coast and over Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the central and Gippsland districts, contracting eastwards. Remaining fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Fire Danger -  Generally high in the north.Monday 19 NovemberMorning fog patches in the south. Isolated showers over central and western Gippsland, tending more widespread in the east. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mild to warm inland with light winds tending southeasterly, cooler near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 20 NovemberA warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate northerly winds freshening in the west during the afternoon. Milder near the Gippsland coast with afternoon seabreezes developing.Wednesday 21 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms extending eastwards, affecting mainly southern and mountain districts. Warm in the east. Moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler, west to southwesterly change extending through western areas in the morning, reaching the east in the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
