Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
A Strong Wind Warning is current for waters from Double
Island Point to Point Danger, including Moreton Bay.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure lies along Queensland's east coast, while a
surface trough is drifting eastwards across the southern interior. An upper
level trough lies over the southern interior.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Isolated showers and gusty thunderstorms over the southern interior
districts, possibly extending to the southeast coast late in the evening. Fine
and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state, except for the chance of some
isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Moderate
NW to NE winds over most of the state, fresh at times about the central and
southeast coast. A moderate to fresh SE to SW change over the southern
interior. Very High fire dangers in the Channel Country, Maranoa and Warrego and
Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms in a band from the state's far north down
through the central and southeast interior, and into the southeast. More
widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely over the southeast interior,
particularly over the southeast interior. These showers and thunderstorms over
the southeast should spread to areas of thundery rain late in the day, and some
of them may be severe. Moderate to fresh NW to NE winds over most eastern and
northern districts, and mainly moderate SE to SW winds over the southern
interior. A moderate to fresh SE change over the southeast coast district.
High to very high fire danger over most of the state except the eastern
districts north of St. Lawrence.
Forecast for Sunday
A weak surface trough should extend from the state's northwest down to the
southeast interior, before contracting off the southeast coast during the day.
Mainly isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected over the far northern and
eastern districts ahead of the trough, more widespread about the state's
southeast. Milder daytime temperatures about the state's southeast. Fine and
mostly sunny over the southern and central interior.
Forecast for Monday
Mainly isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected over the far northern
and the eastern districts, reaching into the Central Highlands district during
the afternoon and evening. Fine, dry and mostly sunny over the interior.
Forecast for Tuesday
A ridge should gradually strengthen along the east coast during the day,
pushing more humid air inland, and allowing mainly isolated showers and
thunderstorms to form over the eastern half of the state, and also about the
Gulf Country. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
A weak ridge of high pressure should remain along the east coast, pushing
humid air over the eastern districts, resulting in some isolated showers and
thunderstorms over the region. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the
southern interior and most of the far western districts.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Saturday.
