MELBOURNE - Nov 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will remain south of the Bight tonight and Saturday. A cold front will move from the Southern Ocean towards southwestern Victoria late Saturday before crossing Bass Strait by early Sunday afternoon. The high will then pass to the south of Victoria Sunday night, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday. The next cold front will reach western Victoria Tuesday night. Forecast for the rest of FridayPartly cloudy in the south, clear in the north. Moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty about the Gippsland coast.Saturday 17 NovemberIsolated showers on and south of the divide, contracting to the coast in the morning and clearing in the afternoon. Isolated showers re-developing about the western coast at night. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 18 NovemberIsolated showers developing in the south, becoming more widespread near the coast and over Gippsland. Small hail possible near the west Gippsland coast. Isolated thunderstorms possible over Gippsland, mainly in the afternoon. Remaining fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Monday 19 NovemberIsolated showers over central and eastern Gippsland, tending more widespread in the far east. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mild to warm inland with light winds tending southeasterly, cooler near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 20 NovemberA warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate northerly winds freshening in the west during the afternoon.
