MELBOURNE - Nov 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak cold front over eastern Bass Strait is moving away to the east. A high pressure system will remain over the Bight on Friday and Saturday. A cold front will move from the Southern Ocean towards southwestern Victoria late Saturday before drifting through Bass Strait on Sunday. The high pressure system will move further eastwards on Sunday towards Tasmania before reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, freshening about the coast.Friday 16 NovemberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting to the coast during the morning and clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers clearing from the northwest during the afternoon. Cool to mild and partly cloudy. Moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty about the coast.Fire Danger - High in the northSaturday 17 NovemberIsolated showers on and south of the divide, mainly during the morning. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 18 NovemberIsolated showers on and south of the divide, becoming more widespread over East Gippsland with isolated thunderstorms possible. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds.Monday 19 NovemberIsolated showers in Gippsland clearing during the day. Fine elsewhere.
