MELBOURNE - Nov 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will clear the northeast this evening, while a ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight to western Victoria. A cold front approaching western Victoria will move across the State Friday morning. A high pressure system will then move across Victoria on Saturday, reaching the east Tasman Sea by Sunday as the next cold front approaches. The front will cross Victoria on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms contracting eastwards over Gippsland and the northeast district this evening. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, clear over the northern inland. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds extending throughout the east.Friday 9 NovemberIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, more scattered about exposed coastal areas. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres over southern Alpine areas. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times about the coast.Fire Danger - Moderate to high.Saturday 10 NovemberIsolated showers in the south, mainly about the coast and clearing during the morning. Fine and mainly sunny across the north. Cool to mild in the south, mild to warm in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 11 NovemberFine and mainly sunny throughout. Warm with light to moderate north to northeast winds and freshening afternoon seabreezes about the Gippsland and central coasts.Monday 12 NovemberIsolated showers developing from the west and extending throughout, clearing from the northwest inland areas during the afternoon.
