Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea is directing warm and increasingly humid northerly winds across New South Wales, as a broad trough of low pressure develops over western and southern Australia. This trough will move into New South Wales during Tuesday, leading to unsettled conditions through southern and western districts. Shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to increase late Tuesday or Wednesday as a cold front approaches from the Southern Ocean, with showers increasing to more extensive rain areas across the south and west. The focus of activity should shift towards the northeast during Thursday and Friday as the cold front brings cooler and drier air into the state's west. A ridge of high pressure is forecast to strengthen over the region in the wake of the front, promoting a return to mostly fine conditions by Sunday.

Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Tuesday 6 NovemberShowers and thunderstorms across the south and west of the state, becoming more widespread in the southwest during the afternoon, and possibly extending to central districts.
