MELBOURNE - Nov 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight is extending a ridge across New South Wales in the wake of a cold front, bringing a cooler southerly airstream to the region today. The high will move to the Tasman Sea during Saturday, maintaining fine conditions in all except the coastal districts and the eastern slopes of the ranges. This system is expected to remain slow-moving through the first half of next week, directing warmer more humid northerly winds over New South Wales as a trough approaches from the west. The trough and an associated cold front currently appear likely to bring unsettled conditions as they cross the state mid-week. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Saturday 3 NovemberIsolated light showers or some drizzle on and east of the ranges, mostly clearing during the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible inland close to the Victorian border late in the day. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 4 NovemberIsolated showers in the northeast, with the chance of thunderstorms about the northern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Chiefly northeast to northwesterly winds.Monday 5 NovemberIsolated showers in the far northeast. Cloud increasing with late showers possible in the southwest. Fine elsewhere. Warm to very hot northwest to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast and in the west.Tuesday 6 NovemberShowers developing across the state, most widespread in the southwest and more isolated in the northeast.
