MELBOURNE - Oct 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high [1023 hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along Queensland's east coast, while a weak surface trough lies over the state's west. An upper level trough is drifting eastwards across the state's southeast. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Scattered showers and thunderstorms, and areas of patchy rain over the central interior, gradually clearing from the west. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the rest of the state, except for the western interior, where conditions will be fine and clear. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times about the northeast coast. Forecast for Wednesday Fine and mostly sunny across the state, except for some isolated showers and thunderstorms about the state's northwest and also about the eastern districts south of about Bowen. Above average daytime temperatures over the western and southern districts. A moderate to high fire danger over the southeast, western and most northern districts, high to very high over the Peninsula district. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times about the northeast coast. Forecast for Thursday The air is likely to remain dry across much of Queensland, resulting in fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of the state, except for some isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf Country. Above average daytime temperatures over much of the state. Forecast for Friday Fine and mostly sunny across much of the state, though some isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible about the Gulf Country. Above average daytime temperatures over much of the state. Just the chance of some isolated showers developing during the day over the state's southeast with the passage of a cooler southerly change. Forecast for Saturday Fine and mostly sunny throughout Queensland except for some isolated showers and thunderstorms over parts of the northwest and also over the southeast quarter of the state. Above average daytime temperatures over the northern districts and the interior. Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday Conditions are likely to remain fine, mostly sunny and very warm to hot across most of Queensland during the outlook period, though isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible about the southeast and northeast parts of the state, possibly spreading into the southern and western interior on Tuesday.
