Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastwards. A low pressure trough will enter far southwest Victoria this evening then will slowly extend eastwards across the State on Wednesday, clearing the far northeast early Thursday. The next high pressure system will move over waters south of the Bight late Thursday and will extend a ridge towards Victoria on Friday. The high will pass to the south of Tasmania on Saturday, as the next low pressure trough extends from inland Australia towards northwest Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from isolated showers over the far eastern ranges which will clear this evening. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds inland. Coastal seabreezes weakening this evening.Wednesday 31 OctoberWarm to hot through much of the State with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds. A milder west to southwesterly change extending from the southwest, reaching central and northwestern areas in the late afternoon and reaching the east at night. Isolated showers following the change, mainly on and south of the ranges.Thursday 1 NovemberIsolated showers over the north contracting eastwards during the afternoon. Scattered showers in the south, more widespread over Gippsland. Possible thunderstorms in the south, mostly near the coast, contracting eastwards. Moderate to fresh westerly winds shifting colder, gusty southwesterly.Friday 2 NovemberIsolated showers in the south clearing from the west. Dry over the northwest plains. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Saturday 3 NovemberDry and sunny in the east. Cloud increasing over western districts during the day with the chance of a thundery shower, but mostly dry. Generally mild with generally light winds and coastal seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
