MELBOURNE - Oct 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high [1023 hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along Queensland's east coast, while a weak surface trough lies over the state's west. An upper level trough is drifting eastwards across the southern districts. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Scattered showers and thunderstorms, and patchy rain over central interior, clearing from the west during the day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the rest of the state, except for the western interior, where conditions will be fine and mostly sunny.Temperatures will be below average over the southern and central interior. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times about the northeast coast. Forecast for Wednesday The upper level trough is expected to move off the east coast during the day, causing conditions to clear over the state's interior. Meanwhile the high in the Tasman Sea will push some moisture onto the east coast, resulting in some isolated showers over the eastern districts. Isolated showers and storms are also expected about the Gulf Country. Daytime temperatures over the western and southern districts will be above normal. Forecast for Thursday The air is likely to remain dry across most of Queensland, resulting in fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of the state, except for some isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf Country. Forecast for Friday Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state, though some isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible about the Gulf Country. Just the chance of some isolated showers developing during the day near the southeast coast with the passage of a cooler southerly change. Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday The southerly change may produce isolated showers and thunderstorms in the southeast on Saturday, while unstable air mass will lead to possible showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf Country. However, continuing stable conditions under an upper ridge will lead to generally fine and sunny conditions over most of the state with above average temperatures through the outlook period. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Tuesday.
