Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A high [1027 hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along Queensland's east
coast, while a surface trough lies over the state's west. An upper level trough
is drifting eastwards across the southern districts.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Scattered showers and storms over the southern and central interior,
spreading to patchy rain in areas with some moderate falls possible. Cloudy,
though mainly fine over the southeast of the state. Just isolated showers about
the remaining east coast and the northern interior. Isolated showers and storms
about the northwest. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh about the southern
tropical coast.
Forecast for Tuesday
Scattered showers and storms, and areas of patchy rain over the southern and
central interior, clearing from the west during the day. The southeast of the
state can expect areas of patchy, mainly light rain, and some isolated showers
and thunderstorms mainly about the ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms
about the rest of the state, except for the far western interior, where
conditions will be fine and mostly sunny. Temperatures below average over the
southern and central interior. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times
about the northeast coast. Moderate to high fire dangers about the state's
southeast, far north, and west.
Forecast for Wednesday
The upper level trough is expected to move off the east coast during the day,
causing conditions to clear over the state's interior. Meanwhile the high in
the Tasman Sea will push some moisture onto the east coast, resulting in some
isolated showers over the eastern tropical districts, and isolated showers and
storms over the southeast. Isolated showers and storms are also expected about
the Gulf Country. Above average daytime temperatures over the western and
southern districts.
Forecast for Thursday
The air is likely to remain dry across most of Queensland, resulting in fine
and mostly sunny conditions across the state, except for some isolated showers
about the northeast coast, and some isolated showers and storms over the Gulf
Country.
Forecast for Friday
Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state, though some isolated showers
and storms are possible about the Gulf Country, and some isolated showers about
the northeast coast in a weak onshore flow. Just the chance of some isolated
showers developing during the day near the southeast coast with a cooler
southerly change.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Dry air should remain across the state during the outlook period, leaving the
bulk of the state fine and mostly sunny, however a weak upper level trough may
produce some isolated showers and storms about the state's far west.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Tuesday.
