MELBOURNE - Oct 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system straddles Bass Strait and will move east to consolidate over the Tasman Sea on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday a low pressure trough will approach, reaching the far west at night then slowly extending eastwards across the State on Wednesday. The trough will deepen with a low forming to the east of Bass Strait on Thursday while the next high pressure system will cross waters south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from morning fog patches. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light wind tending northerly and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 30 OctoberFine. A warm to very warm and mostly sunny day with a moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly wind. A milder southwesterly change in the southwest during the evening.Wednesday 31 OctoberWarm to hot in the north and east with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, strong about the eastern highlands. A cooler fresh southwesterly change in the southwest during the morning, extending to central and northwestern areas in the afternoon then to the east at night. Isolated showers developing in the west following the change but the showers becoming more extensive further east, especially over Gippsland.Thursday 1 NovemberCool with isolated showers over southern and mountain areas, scattered to widespread over the east until the afternoon. Becoming fine and mild over the northern plains.
