Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough over northeast New South Wales links to a low pressure system over the Tasman sea, while a high pressure system near the Bight extends a ridge to the east. The trough will progress to the Tasman Sea early Saturday as the high becomes the dominant feature in the region, restricting any shower activity to areas near the coast in a cooler southerly airstream. Winds will turn easterly then northerly during Sunday and Monday as the high moves to the Tasman Sea, with showers possible over northern districts early in the new week as warmer and more humid air feeds into an inland trough. The next frontal system is forecast to affect the state mid-week, although it's precise movement is currently uncertain.
Forecast for the rest of FridayThe chance of showers and local thunder near the Queensland border. Isolated showers on the south coast, tending scattered for a period during the evening, with the chance of snow on the Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 27 OctoberThe chance of early morning showers along the southern and central coasts. Isolated showers on the northern coast and ranges, with the risk of an afternoon thunderstorm or two near the Queensland border. Otherwise fine and mostly sunny. South to southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Fire Danger - Very High: Northwest Slopes and Plains.Sunday 28 OctoberFine apart from the chance of showers along the northern coast. Partly cloudy near the coast, and sunny inland. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Monday 29 OctoberIsolated showers developing across the north, more likely near Queensland border. Fine and partly cloudy in the south. East to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 30 OctoberShowers in the northeast, and possibly over the southern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Chiefly northeast to northwesterly winds. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
