Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just south of Victoria will move across the southern Tasman Sea tonight. A vigorous southwesterly airflow over Victoria will continue on Friday as a cold front crosses Bass Strait. A high pressure system will approach western Victoria during Saturday, then move across the State on Sunday to be located over the Tasman Sea on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers on and south of the divide becoming isolated this evening, although remaining dry in East Gippsland. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, stronger near the coast and easing inland this evening.Friday 26 OctoberIsolated showers near the coast, extending to remaining areas near and south of the ranges during the day and increasing in the south, before becoming isolated and contracting to the south during the evening. Snow falls developing above about 1400 metres. Isolated thunderstorms and hail possible near the coast during the late morning and afternoon. Cloud increasing in the north, but remaining dry. A cool cay with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, locally strong near the coast.Saturday 27 OctoberIsolated showers in the south, falling as snow at first above 1300 metres, contracting southeastwards during the day. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. A cool day with moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Sunday 28 OctoberIsolated early showers or drizzle near the southeast coasts. Early frost and fog patches possible inland. Otherwise a fine, mild and partly cloudy day in the south, warmer and mostly sunny in the north. Generally light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Monday 29 OctoberFine apart from isolated early fog in the south. A warm and mostly sunny day with light winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
