MELBOURNE - Oct 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northeastern New South Wales. This system is gradually weakening and contracting northeastwards as a low pressure trough moves through western NSW. Warm to hot northerly winds will precede the trough, which is expected to advance to the northeast on Friday. Behind the trough, the next high pressure system is forecast to strengthen a ridge across the region through the weekend, maintaining dry conditions in most districts. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of dry thunderstorms in the far northwest tonight, otherwise fine. Hot northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a cooler south to southwesterly change in the west and south. Areas of raised dust in the west. Dangerous surf conditions easing on the north coast.Friday 26 OctoberThe chance of thunderstorms in the northwest and on the far north coast. Isolated morning drizzle patches and afternoon showers over the south coast. Fine elsewhere. Sunny in the south, cloudy in the north. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Fire Danger - Very High in the northeast.Saturday 27 OctoberIsolated showers along the central and north coast and the eastern slopes of the northern ranges, clearing along the central coast during the morning. Mostly sunny in the south and west, cloudy in the northeast. South to southeasterly winds, fresh near the southern and central coasts.Sunday 28 OctoberIsolated showers along the central and northern coasts, contracting to north of Newcastle by midday, and the remainder clearing during the evening. East to southeast winds.Monday 29 OctoberIsolated showers over the northern inland, more likely near Queensland border.
