Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northeastern New South Wales. This system will gradually weaken tonight, as a low pressure trough over central Australia approaches the state's western border. Warm to hot northerly winds will precede the trough, which is expected to bring a southerly change across the south and west during Thursday, before continuing to the northeast on Friday. Behind the trough, the next high pressure system is forecast to strengthen a ridge across the region through the weekend, maintaining dry conditions in most districts.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, fresh in the south . Hot northwest to northeasterly winds inland, fresh at times in the far west. Dangerous surf conditions on the north coast.Thursday 25 OctoberA fine day throughout, although the chance of dry thunderstorms in the far northwest at night. Little if any rain expected to reach the ground. Mostly sunny in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a cooler south to southwesterly change in the west and south. Areas of raised dust in the west. Dangerous surf conditions on the north coast.Fire Danger -  Severe: Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney and Illawarra/Shoalhaven. Very High remainder northeast NSW.Friday 26 OctoberThe chance of thunderstorms in the northwest and on the far north coast. Isolated showers also over the far south coast. Fine elsewhere. Sunny in the south, cloudy in the north. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 27 OctoberIsolated clearing showers in the southeast, and the chance of showers on the far north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, fresh near the southern and central coasts.Sunday 28 OctoberIsolated showers along the central and northern coasts, contracting to north of Newcastle by midday, and the remainder clearing during the evening.
