Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough over the east of the state extending to a low pressure system near Kangaroo Island will continue to move east to be near Marree to Broken Hill midnight Wednesday and near Moomba Thursday morning. The low is expected to move over Bass Strait on Thursday morning. As high pressure system will develop over the Bight late on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated light showers over the agricultural area and parts of the Pastorals. Possible thunder over the Northwest Pastoral and the Lower South East. Hot in the north and east with mainly moderate northeast to northerly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh southwest to southeasterly change extending from the west, strong at times about central coasts.Thursday 25 OctoberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms north of Leigh Creek. Isolated showers about the West Coast and the agricultural area, contracting to southern and western coasts during the afternoon. Cool over the West Coast and the agricultural area, grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds extending throughout during the day.Friday 26 OctoberIsolated showers and possible thunder in the northeast. Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area and possible showers about the western coast. Mild to warm grading to hot in the far northeast with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Saturday 27 OctoberPossible isolated showers over Kangaroo Island, the South East and western coasts, clearing during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south grading to mild to warm in the north with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 28 OctoberFine. Mild in the south grading to hot in the north with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the Lower South East and generally less than 2 mm elsewhere. Falls of 2 to 5 mm are possible with showers and thunderstorms in the north of the state.Monday until WednesdayFine at first then isolated showers about the southern agricultural area and West Coast on Tuesday, easing on Wednesday. Initially warmer with southeast to northeasterly winds turning northwesterly in the west during Monday afternoon ahead of a milder southerly change, extending throughout on Tuesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
